Signal Processing
- Miniatures

SI-9475 MINIATURE FIREWIRE IF DIGITIZER

The SI-9475 is a miniature IF digitizer that accepts a 21.4 or 70 MHz analog IF output from a mated receiver or tuner and outputs In-phase and Quadrature (I&Q) IF data over an IEEE-1394a Firewire interface. It allows the transfer of IF data on to a personal computer (PC) for real-time signal monitoring or subsequent processing of collected missions. The SI -9475 supports real-time collection for IF bandwidths of up to 5 MHz. For wider bandwidths, the module supports snapshot operation. The SI-9475 can be used with the SI -8614-X Nanoceptorä VHF/UHF receiver or the SI-9144 Dual-Channel Tuner to create miniature RF-to-IF data processing and collection systems. The SI-9475 may also be used with other DRS Technologies receivers and tuners that have a 21.4 or 70 MHz wideband IF output.

The SI-9475 offers three wideband IF input configurations: single- or dual-input 70 MHz versions and a single-input 21.4 MHz version. These hardware configurations support single or multiple field-programmable gate array (FPGA) digital downconverter (DDC) loads. FPGA downloads also provide 11 digital IF filters ranging from 10 kHz to 20 MHz in the 70 MHz configurations and ten digital IF filters ranging from 10 kHz to 10 MHz in the 21.4 MHz configuration. Also made available via FPGA downloads to the dual 70 MHz configuration are three DDC options. These DDC options provide multiple DDC outputs multiplexed onto the Firewire bus. One option provides two tunable digital downconversion outputs, with five IF bandwidths ranging from 2.5 kHz to 200 kHz. The second option provides six tunable DDC outputs with a 280 kHz bandwidth. The third option provides six tunable DDC outputs at a 16 kHz bandwidth.

The standard SI-9479 is preloaded with narrowband signal processing functionality that is optimized for low power consumption. The unit permits users to download their own custom signal processing algorithms that can operate autonomously or in conjunction with standard DRS Technologies processing algorithms. The optional Picoprocessorä Developer's Package (PDP) is available as a tool for developing custom applications for the SI-9479.

The SI-9479 is compatible with the SI-9144 VHF/UHF Dual-channel Tuner and the SI-8614 VHF/UHF Nanoceptorä family of receivers. Various unit models have been designed for users that require better digitizer performance or additional processing resources. The standard unit uses a 10-bit analog to digital converter (ADC) and a Virtex-4 FX12 FPGA. The SI-9479A consumes an additional watt of power but contains a 14-bit digitizer.  The SI-9479B contains a large FX60 FPGA and a 14-bit digitizer.

SI-9479 Highlights:
