Articles: Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DRS Technologies Introduces a New Product Line Enhancing its Eagle SIGINT Wideband Recorder Capabilities PARSIPPANY, N.J., November 2008 – DRS Technologies announced today the launch of its new Recorded Data Access (RDA) product line for wideband recording applications. The products deliver SIGINT training and system validation and are designed to work in conjunction with tactical SIGINT recorders. The open architecture platform of the new RDA products enable users to integrate data with a wide range of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software and hardware components, including DRS’s Eagle SIGINT recorder. The RDA line is built on commodity server technology which provides a cost advantages and significantly reduces internal development requirements. The new products were designed and developed at DRS’ Columbia, Maryland facility. “In-theater training can increase risk to operators, equipment and missions,” said Larry Butera, vice president and general manager of DRS Signal Solutions, Inc. “When combined with DRS’s Eagle Transportable Recorders, the RDA products offer customers an alternate approach which allows signal-of-interest playback at centralized locations away from theater where more appropriate training conditions, personnel and resources are at hand.” From a technical standpoint, the RDA products’ open architecture I/O interfaces support a myriad of record and playback options that include; dual differential ECL, dual 100MHz bandwidth analog, quad 2.5GBPS serial FPDP, and 200MHz bandwidth analog. Additionally, the products store data in a large RAID protected disk library that are offered in 10.5TByte, 16.5TByte, 22.5TByte and 36TByte versions. The large storage array makes the product ideal for storing and organizing a large library of signals. The device is capable of more than 14 hours of sustained record/playback of a 200 MHz signal bandwidth. DRS Technologies’ Signal Recording Technologies line of business is a leader in developing, marketing, and manufacturing of products that redefine and extend the limits of integrated recording, processing and special storage systems for the SIGINT, instrumentation, information assurance and niche telemetry and telecommunications markets. DRS Technologies, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A. which employs more than 70,000 people worldwide.
