Articles: Press ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DRS Technologies Introduces 500MHz Bandwidth ULTRA Wideband DATA Recorder PARSIPPANY, N.J., Month (December 28, 2008)– DRS Technologies announced today the launch of its new Eagle Xpress product. The high performance, ultra wideband recorder, used for tactical SIGINT recording applications, is the latest in their industry leading Eagle recorder family. The Eagle Xpress represents a significant achievement in design and performance in a package that offers size, weight and power (SWaP) advantages to its end-users. The recorder is effective for a wide variety of commercial and government applications including survey of ELINT, WiMAX, W-CDMA, GSM signals, system testing/validation, simulation, training and signal library development. At 3.5 inches x 14 inches x 14 inches, weighing 25 pounds and operating on less than 250 watts, Eagle Xpress capitalized on technological advances in high speed A/D-D/As, storage media, low-power FPGA capabilities and the PCI Express standard. The initial model is designed to capture a single 500 MHz wide Pre-D spectrum for 45 minutes or multiple lower rate channels. Two removable storage packs support quick and easy installation and replacement of storage media. The new product was designed and developed at DRS’ Columbia, Maryland facility. “Market research indicates that our commercial and government customers will require the field capture of ultra wideband signals.” said Larry Butera, vice president and general manager of DRS Signal Solutions, Inc. “The impressive 500MHz bandwidth of the Xpress meets customer demands and additionally enables capabilities not previously available in portable recorder products. The Eagle Xpress recorder reinforces DRS’s position in current and future SIGINT recording missions.” The Eagle Xpress data recorder has two storage bays that support 2 TByte disk or solid state removable storage modules. Two modular I/O slots support user installable modules for connection to a wide range of industry tuner/receivers. I/O modules support record and playback with options that include 500MHz BW Analog, 200MHz BW Analog, Dual DECL, Quad Serial Optical, Dual Universal IF Analog and Up to STM64 Telecom. Recorder control is implemented through the Gigabit Ethernet interface or via the front panel touch screen controller. Recorded data may be accessed through the Gigabit Ethernet interface or by connecting the DRS removable storage packs to a workstation or tape offload unit. The Xpress contains a PCI Express expansion port for the addition of external I/O, storage or tape subsystems. DRS Technologies’ Signal Recording Technologies line of business is a leader in developing, marketing, and manufacturing of products that redefine and extend the limits of integrated recording, processing and special storage systems for the SIGINT, instrumentation, information assurance and niche telemetry and telecommunications markets. DRS Technologies, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide.
